Dumbledore is Gay!

I can’t believe it when i read the news at Mugglenet, my primary source of all HP stuff. Unfortunately, it’s true.

The most notable news of the night was the revelation of Dumbledore’s sexuality. Jo says Dumbledore was gay and in love with Gellert Grindelwald. JK, in response to the audience’s reaction, said “If I had known this would have made you so happy, I would have told you years ago.”

My initial reaction: What?!?! Not that i mean to be discriminatory or whatever, i’m just being true. It’s simply shocking. There wasn’t a bit of a hint in the books, especially in the 7th book, where his skeletons were supposedly taken out of the closet through Rita Skeeter’s book The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore.

It’s true that Dumbledore’s sexual orientation does not in any way discredit his achievements and judgment. But what’s the point? Why tell when it could fire up a controversy? Or is it the intention of this whole thing? That’s juicing up the community with factoids to induce more topics to talk about.

Alright, i don’t have a point to make. The world was created by the author, thereby giving him/her 100% godly authority to decide details in it from the smallest crumple-horned snorkacks to the whereabouts of the most respected greatest mind of the wizarding world. Let’s call him Dumbly* from now on. Right, now I’ll shut up.

*The moniker was coined by someone i know after asking me “How come Dumblydore doesn’t have family? Is he gay?”

Four more days and it’s out. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book of the HP series will be available everywhere. Here in the Philippines, book reservations have been up as early as February, a few days after it’s release announcement.

As tension builds up in anticipation, here’s what i have to say. Watch out for my blog post minutes after i get my book. Wee!
