DNSSEC Root Signing by July 1st

This is good news. DNSSEC-signed root is to be expected on July 1st, 2010.

When the presentation slide changed from page 24 to page 25, one of the important moments of the Internet history had now been announced to public and long-time waited, “The date for fully deployment of the
DNSSEC at Root Zone” was confirmed; July 1, 2010. The presentation also included a brief timeline of other important dates before the DNSSEC is fully deployed.

How-To: Remove “Ondoy” Spyware

OK, there’s no such thing as Ondoy spyware (or virus for that matter). But while Ondoy was lashing the Philippines and killing hundreds in the process, some “malicious” folks were taking advantage of the google search term. According to some blog posts, when you type Ondoy (or its varieties), the first few top searches are actually links to virus.

I never knew anyone actually fell victim to this trap, until this weekend. A cousin asked me to help her re-install her antivirus, which according to her is not showing up after their IT department “cleaned” her PC. Then she went on detailing how she got the virus in the first place. It was Ondoy’s fault, tsk tsk. Although I have very little interest in Windows-related posts (with the exception of Windows7) and all its virus issues, i decided otherwise to to post this how-to. Who knows, someone else may have fallen victim.. (and they may not even know it).

Moving on, this is what i did.

The banner above has been circling around twitter and blogs ever since the calamity. TRUE. While there is so much to feel bad about the tragedy, one sure thing happened almost instantaneously – it has brought about the best among Filipinos.

This comment by an American living in the Philippines pretty much sums it all..

“I wish you all could see the amazing community spirit, charity and compassion in the Philippines. What I see happening here totally blows away the response to hurricane Katrina. People here have less to give, yet they are giving ABUNDANTLY. There is such a greater story than just the ‘death toll’ that the lame american media fails to capture.”

Typhoon Ondoy in Manila

In lieu of the Typhoon Ondoy that battered Metro Manila, I am re-posting some information from blogs with posts about and concerning rescue operations, important numbers to call, current situation, and relief operation, donation and volunteering options.
