Out of curiosity, what edition of the dd-wrt firmware were you using? And which version of the WRT54G? Anything later than v3 of the WRT54G can only take the micro firmware which does not support IPv6.

Hello irrashai!

Does this mean Japanese, Chinese, Korean and other native characters are now allowed in the domain name? If that's the case, it would be chaotic.

I believe those domains shouldn't be used if a website is aiming for international traffic. Not much people know how to type those characters anyway.

Feel free to correct me in case I'm wrong.

I swear "sudo passwd root" did not work before. now it does.

anyway, it appears apple wants it done through directory utility.app

just unlock the application, and go to the edit menu.

I am having the same problem being an experienced UNIX administrator on HP-UX, IRIX, SUN, AIX and Linux when i got my ibook with Leopard pre installed from ebay the first thing i did was open a terminal and try to su to root and it asks for the password which i dont have.

I have tried tried the above ie applications/utilities/directory utility and it opens a box with the user name and asks for the password which is not set i.e. its blank.

Then nothing happens i dont see any edit or enable root password options unless i am missing something and i have unlocked the padlock.

i know on UNIX workstations you could change the run state to single user and then you would be logged on as root and then you can change the password in a terminal.

But i dont know how or if you can do the same on an apple ibook running leopard.
Thanks anyone who can help.

And i dont have the installation CD's either.

Hi, all the above desribed procedures an NOT necessary!

You can use the "alt""command" keys while you are toggeling the airport symbol in your contextual menu.

It will show to you all available data from the active network

PLUS

it will show you the same information for every network in range if you hover over that network in the very same airport symbol contextual menu item.

enjoy the improvement and never need any stumbler stuff again, albeit they are usefull if they work

WARNING!

Some stumblers like AP Grapher are "CAUSING" a drop in connection quality. Somehow that software interacts with the router and/or software wise in a manner that spoils the connection.
